Scope
This privacy policy applies to our iOS apps (Records Player and Global Charts) and to this website.
Personal Data
Our apps do not require accounts, and we do not use advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking, or analytics on our website. The only automatic data processing on our website is described in the Server Logs and Content Delivery Network sections below.
Legal Basis
All data processing in our apps is based on one of the following legal grounds under GDPR Article 6:
- Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)): processing necessary to provide the app's features you use, such as accessing your music library or syncing your library via iCloud.
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)): aggregated analytics to improve app stability and performance.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): when you grant specific permissions, such as access to your Apple Music library. You can withdraw consent at any time through your device settings.
Server Logs
When you visit this website, our web server automatically records log entries containing your IP address, the date and time of the request, the requested URL, the referrer, and your browser's user agent. These entries are used to detect and defend against attacks, abuse, and technical faults. Log files are retained for 7 days and then automatically deleted. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Content Delivery Network
This website is delivered through Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA), which acts as a reverse proxy and content delivery network. To serve pages and defend against attacks, Cloudflare processes your IP address and request metadata on our behalf. Cloudflare is certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and transfers outside the EU are additionally safeguarded by Standard Contractual Clauses. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure and performant website under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. For details, see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Support Email
If you choose to contact us by email, we process your email address and the contents of your message to respond. This is the only case where we process personal data directly.
On-Device Data
Preferences, settings, and your music library data are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to us.
iCloud
Your library data is synced via Apple's iCloud service so it is available across your devices. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is not accessible to us. Apple's processing of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Apple Music
Our apps integrate with Apple Music via the MusicKit framework. When you connect your Apple Music subscription:
- Music playback is handled entirely by Apple's systems.
- We do not access, store, or transmit your Apple Music credentials.
- Apple's processing of Apple Music data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Discogs Import
Records Player allows you to import your collection from Discogs. When you use this feature, your Discogs collection data is retrieved from Discogs and stored locally on your device. The app then sends search queries to Apple Music servers to match your collection with available music. No data from your Discogs import is transmitted to us.
App Analytics and Diagnostics
Apple's App Analytics provides aggregated crash and usage statistics that do not personally identify you. If you enable analytics sharing, Apple may share these statistics with us so we can improve stability and performance. You can control this in iOS: go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements, and turn off Share With App Developers.
In-App Purchases
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases. RevenueCat processes an anonymous app user identifier and purchase transaction data to validate and manage your purchases. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or Apple ID. For details, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We do not use advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking. The following third parties may process data as part of our apps or this website:
- Apple: App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, and App Analytics.
- RevenueCat: in-app purchase management (anonymous identifiers and transaction data only).
- Discogs: collection data retrieval, only when you initiate an import.
- Cloudflare: content delivery and security for this website (IP address and request metadata).
Cookies
We do not use cookies on this website.
Retention
Server log entries for this website are retained for 7 days and then automatically deleted. On-device data remains on your device until you delete the app. iCloud data remains in your iCloud account until you remove it. Support emails are retained only as long as necessary to respond, and then deleted.
Children
Our apps are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
Your Rights
You can request access to or deletion of any support email you have sent us by contacting [email protected]. If you are located in the EEA/UK/Switzerland, you have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through our apps or on this page.
