Why these settings matter
Each processing layer - Atmos, EQ, Sound Check, Crossfade - modifies the signal between the master and your ears. Bit-perfect playback means the bits the mastering engineer approved reach the DAC unchanged. On iOS, that requires disabling each processor and selecting a lossless delivery tier; the underlying file is otherwise compressed, spatialized, or gain-adjusted before playback.
Records plays Apple Music through MusicKit, which respects these settings. With the configuration above, a record played in Records is delivered bit-perfect to the connected DAC or at Lossless fidelity to a wired headphone output.
AI that reads too many journals about music and sound.
